Community Relations Excellence Award

NSSGA’s Community Relations Excellence Awards recognize active producer member operations for their contributions to the community in which they operate and efforts to enhance public perception of their facility, company and the aggregates industry. This award is open to any producer member operation. A facility receiving a gold category designation is automatically recognized for five years and is not eligible to apply again during that time. Environmental Excellence Award

NSSGA’s Environmental Excellence Awards provide national recognition for active producer member operations demonstrating a commitment to the exemplary use of environmental controls and systems. A facility receiving a gold category designation is automatically recognized for five years and not eligible to apply again during that time. Safety Excellence Award
Price: $50

NSSGA’s Safety Excellence Awards recognize active producer member operations maintaining a safe workplace, evidenced by its safety performance over a consecutive period without an MSHA-reportable injury. For questions regarding the Safety Excellence Awards, please contact the NSSGA Director of Occupational Health and Safety.



National Stars of Excellence
This award is presented to an operation with multiple gold awards across different categories (Community Relations, Environmental and Safety Excellence) within five years.
This is automatically awarded.



Certificates

Community Relations Certificate of Achievement
The Community Relations Certificates are automatically awarded to facilities that complete the self-certification application. Any active NSSGA producer member operation is eligible to apply.
Environmental Certificate of Achievement
The Environmental Certificates of Achievement are automatically awarded to facilities that complete the self-certification application. Any active NSSGA producer member operation is eligible to apply. The operation must certify it is in compliance with all applicable governmental environmental regulatory requirements and does not have a pattern of violations during the time period of two full years prior to the date of application.

Company Awards

Louis Griesemer Sterling Safety Award
The Louis Griesemer Sterling Safety Award recognizes NSSGA member companies that have the lowest total accident incidence rate for the previous year in their category. Safety data for the Sterling Awards is provided by MSHA, therefore there is no application.

Individual Awards

Barry K. Wendt Memorial Commitment Award
This award is given to an individual in the industry who is deserving of personal recognition for exhibiting the dedication exemplified by Barry Wendt. This award honors the memory of Barry K. Wendt, who passed away in February of 1997. Known for his outgoing, friendly disposition and spirited nature, he was a great friend and champion to the industry.

Environmental Leadership Award
The award recognizes an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to the industry's environmental responsiveness; someone who is involved with NSSGA's environmental programs; and a person who has direct day-to-day involvement with his or her company's environmental affairs.
James M. Christie Safety & Health Professional of the Year
This award honors superior contributions of an aggregates industry professional to his or her company, and the industry, toward proactive safe and healthful operating practices.
Mark S. Walsh Annual Leadership Award
This award honors the memory of Mark S. Walsh, a Young Leaders Steering Committee member who was an energetic and enthusiastic supporter of the mission, purpose and activities of Young Leaders. It is given annually to a member who exemplifies the leadership traits of professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment, and who has improved and developed the image and programs of Young Leaders. This award is sponsored by Rock Products.
Paul Mellott, Jr. Award for Political Excellence
Recognizes leadership and commitment to strengthening ROCKPAC to further the priorities of the aggregates industry.
This is automatically awarded.
ICON Award
This award recognizes a stalwart supporter of the aggregates industry who has made tremendous contributions during their career. This individual’s involvement in the association has left an indelible mark on the industry.
This is automatically awarded.
Rock Star Award
The Rock Star Award is presented annually to a member of Congress who goes above and beyond for the aggregates industry.
